Dear Family and Friends,
As I continue on my Ph.D. journey, I am thrilled to invite you to my public examination: Welcome Table, a Eucharistic Liturgy Based on African-American Spirituals. With the generous assistance of incredible composer and friend Roger Holland, I have composed a mass based on the melodies and meanings of the spirituals. It?s singable! And of course, the spirituals themselves are so beautiful!
For this exam, one of four exams I will take during the year, a talented group of singers and I will present the music in the context of liturgy. I am also honored to have Professor Janet R. Walton and performer /composer, Ysaye M. Barnwell, as the ?readers? of my exam.
I truly hope that you are able to be with me for this milestone in my academic life. With deep appreciation, I also ask your support of this performance by your prayers, your good thoughts, and by sponsoring a singer. Please come and bring your singing voices. I hope to see you there! Please find the details below?
